Fifth Coast Recovery Code of Ethics

 

Fifth Coast Recovery has a Code of Ethics for our team (including house managers), Care and Management Teams to operate by. This will allow our clients to receive the best possible care and services from Fifth Coast Recovery. Clients can expect the following from Fifth Coast Recovery, our team will:

·      Promote the well-being of clients.

·      Treat clients with respect.

·      Speak to clients and their families in a professional manner.

·      Require clients to participate in the planning of their treatment. Clients will provide informed consent regarding any Fifth Coast Recovery services.

·      Not provide services that the client no longer requires or is not in the client’s best interest.

·      Not lie, deceive, or mislead our clients.

·      Not isolate or use a form of seclusion, or use any form of physical restraints.

·      Not verbally, emotionally, or physically abuse clients.

·      Not have sexual contact of any kind with clients.

·      Not have conversations of a sexual nature, unless directly related to a client’s treatment.

·      Not lend, borrow, give, or accept money from clients or their families.

·      Not discuss their personal lives, outside of being a person in recovery and their experience, strength, and hope as it pertains to that.

·      Maintain confidentiality according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act by not giving anyone information about a client or a client’s treatment without a release of information. Exceptions to this could include: a court order, medical emergency, or audits to Fifth Coast Recovery’s files (examples may be for accreditation or for funding).

·      Not have social relationship with clients or their families for two years after the termination of services.

·      Not engage in business transactions with clients for at least two years after the termination of services.

·      Not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, political affiliation, age, marital status, veteran status or any other status or condition protected by applicable federal and state laws.

·      Maintain ethical standards dictated by any staff member’s professional licensure.
